Omer Meir Wellber conducts premiere at the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig

Omer Meir Wellber will conduct a work commissioned by the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig on 20, 21 and 23 February: the monodrama The Eternal Stranger by Ella Milch-Sheriff, which found its inspiration on the occasion of Beethoven’s anniversary and deals with the various facets of foreignness. The programme also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 and Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and Orchestra, whereby the violin is played by Jacob Reuven on the mandolin – so to speak as an “immigrant” into a Central European piece of music.

You can listen to the concert here on MDR Kultur.
