Omer Meir Wellber has stepped in at short notice to conduct the premiere of Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia in Tatjana Gürbaca’s new production, following Teresa Riveiro Böhm’s cancellation due to health reasons.
“After working for five years at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Italian repertoire has become almost like a second mother tongue to me. I am all the more delighted now to conduct “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Hamburg State Opera – it really feels like coming home.” – Omer Meir Wellber
The premiere takes place on May 14. Additional performances with Omer Meir Wellber as music director follow on June 6, 13, 15, and 17.
