Omer Meir Wellber will conduct the renowned Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in May 2016 on the occasion of Dresdner Musikfestspiele: three nights at three different venues. Omer Meir Wellber is trusted with this residency by the orchestra and its Music Director for life Zubin Mehta.
On 18 May the
contemporary work „The Return of the Jackals“ by Michael Wolpe will celebrate
its World Premiere as symphony orchestra version in the famous Frauenkirche.
The composer himself will be present. Schostakovich’s Symphony No. 6 and
Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto performed by David Garrett complete this program.
On 19 May chambermusic sounds can be heard in „Kleiner Schlosshof“: Omer Meir
Wellber and members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Mozart‘s
piano concerto KV 414 in a quintet version in addition to Jewish-Arabic
folklore. On 21 May Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 will be performed in the
church Kreuzkirche.
The residency of the orchestra and the visit of Omer Meir Wellber & Michael
